ACP + APG Participants Acquire Photo Collection Through Print Swap

In a gorgeous atrium that just a few weeks ago was a disco, dozens of artists came together to collect each others photography. On Friday October 7th, 2016 during the kick off event for this years Atlanta Celebrates Photography Portfolio Reviews, The Gallery 145 hosted yet another successful print swap. The event took place at the Atlanta Photography Group Gallery and was open to members of APG and ACP Portfolio Reviewees.

The event was also a sneak preview of the fabulous exhibition Arnika Dawkins Selects at the APG Gallery. The official opening reception is October 21, 2016 from 6:30 - 9:30PM.

This print swap, like all the others that The Gallery 145 has hosted, will hopefully lead to new audiences for artists, an expanded network of dedicated peers, and a generation of artists who support their passion by modeling the importance of collecting art. We look forward to seeing all of you next year!

For those of you who attended, please share images of your newly acquired work and tag @thegallery145.

Time to wipe the dust from the old portfolio box..

The Gallery 145 took a little hiatus this past year but we are back in full swing and are excited about the print swap opportunities that await us! We haven't been completely dormant, just not very vocal. Sorry about that..

Last October, The Gallery 145 was present at the 2015 Atlanta Celebrates Photography Portfolio Reviews. Here are a few photos from the swap!

Registration is open for ACP16 and you should absolutely attend! You just might see us there this year but with a slightly different format and an actual slot in the program. We're moving up in the world..

In April of this year, we partnered with The Light Factory in Charlotte, NC to facilitate a print swap at the conclusion of their first ever 2016 Portfolio Throwdown. This portfolio review was open to college undergrads and graduate students in the Carolinas. Many of the founders of The Gallery 145 served as portfolio reviewers and we were all so impressed by much of the work we saw.

Our big takeaways from those events were rooted in how to make the swap more engaging for participants. We are drafting changes now that will be implemented at future swaps so that everyone feels great about the new art they acquired as well as the new homes that their work found.

This is it for now however, be on the look out for news of our upcoming events this fall! It won't be long we promise.

We have arrived!

After an incredible turn out and all around positive vibe, MallPretzel has assembled this online platform where we will distribute documentation of print swaps, plan new ones, and share the new life that the exchanged works will live. We plan to write about and promote the new works and happenings of The Gallery 145 participants as well as accept invitations to do what we do best, create a super positive atmosphere for the trading of great work.

Here's to the future of new art and equally fresh markets for it!

Much love, The Gallery 145
